KVAR Comparison of Single Phase PFC Capacitors in Delta or in series

In this blog we will show the calculation for connecting single phase capacitors in 3 phase networks.

Firstly the Kvar formula is Q=2π*fn*Un*Un*C where Q = kVAr

Capacitor parallel rule

Capacitor series rule

1) 250kvar 6.58uF 11000V, 50Hz  ->  250kvar @6.58uF

1A) uF measured L-L Connected in Delta

= 9.87uF

1B) uF measured L-L Connected in Star

= 3.29uF

1C) kVar @ 11000V Connected in Star

250000 = X*0.00000987

X = 25329280650

KVAR = 25329280650*0.00000329 = 83.333 KVAR

2) 200kvar 5.26uF 11000V, 50Hz

2A) uF measured L-L Connected in Delta

= 7.89uF

2B) uF measured L-L Connected in Star

= 2.63uF

2C) kVar @ 11000V Connected in Star

200000 = X*0.00000789

X = 25348542460

KVAR = 25348542460*0.00000263 = 66.66 KVAR
